As many of you may know, last year I completed my university work experience with Limpopo Eco Operations (LEO) in South Africa. LEO is based in the Marataba section of the Marakele National Park, covering 23,000 hectares. LEO's focuses include wildlife monitoring (Big 5, cheetahs and hyenas), sustainable conservation work and contributing to anti-poaching activities.
Due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions across the world, the usual funding from volunteers and guests has diminished, leaving the Safari without the vital funds it needs to continue its work in protecting this endangered ecosystem. LEO relies solely on the support received by the volunteers in the field, at base and financially to run the entire operation. Without these funds, the vital conservation, monitoring and sustainable living efforts would not be possible.
The funds raised from this '100km in 7 Days' challenge will go towards:
-Basic running of the project
-Maintenance of solar vehicles
-Fuel for the safari vehicles
-Maintenance of monitoring and office equipment
In these challenging times a donation is a lot to ask, but please donate any amount you can to this amazing organisation.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this cause and if you find you cannot donate at the moment, please share this fundraiser on social media and help me reach my goal :)
