Computer Resources for Young Learners

Learning the basics of coding helps children develop an appreciation for how things work and gives them the opportunity to learn valuable skills while they are young.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has spread across the globe, the temporary closure of schools is disrupting learning and upending lives, especially for the most vulnerable and marginalized.

We are organizing a small (socially distanced) coding camp in Waterford, Ireland. It will introduce coding to children ages 7-13, and help them develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a fun and supportive environment. This program is being offered to children who are currently (or have been) impacted by direct provision.

We are raising money to buy cheap refurbished laptops that can be used for tutoring and training sessions during the coding camp  - we don't need fancy equipment; just working hardware. The laptops will be available to students with limited or no access to technology at home.  We are seeking any support (financial or computer donations) to get this program underway and give kids a head start while we navigate this global pandemic.

Thank you and any help is massively appreciated.
