Ujjayi is the Sanskrit word for “One Who is Victorious”.
Our family has overcome many obstacles and challenges over the years.
I’m a retired midwife and yoga teacher with Lupus who moved her husband and three kids from inner city Toronto to super rural Ireland 10 years ago to actively pursue our dreams of living more authentically and sustainably. We are so pleased to be Irish Citizens now, and have set up a wonderful little Farm on the land we have been renting just off of the famous Ring of Kerry on the Wild Atlantic Way. We keep rare breed chickens, guineafowl, Toulouse geese, ducks, Saanen milk goats, and angora rabbits. We have a large polytunnel where we grow much of our own food. We have an artesian well that is clean and sweet tasting, we are constantly hatching eggs and doing yoga whenever and wherever we can! Our life has so much joy in it, as we continue to strive to do right by the land and the ecosystem, and its inhabitants great and small. We are committed to performing Acts of Restorative Kindness (“this is an ARK”) here.
Our landlord is a wonderful man who lives in England and has expressed an eagerness to sell the property to us, and truly it is our hearts’ desire to purchase this land that we have lovingly lived on and put down roots for the past 5 years. However, with the COVID19 pandemic and the necessary restrictions and precautions, we have not be able to hold our normal stalls at local farmer’s markets and craft markets, and we find ourselves woefully short of sufficient funds for the necessary downpayment. The banks have indicated their willingness to give us a mortgage for the property if we can come up with a reasonable amount in down payment. With Shannon approaching 50, and me with a chronic autoimmune disease, we are soberly aware that this might be our last chance to ever own property, so we recognize there is no time to tarry!
Here is the exciting part: having had no opportunity to do any of the craft markets we so love to do in the summer and autumn months, we would like to offer the items we normally sell at markets though this GoFundMe campaign as THANK YOU GIFTS to incentivize donations!! We are happy to give you little mementos of our lovely life in Ireland to say thank you for believing in and supporting our vision!! You may keep these gifts to enjoy for yourself, or gift them on to friends, family, coworkers, doctors, front line workers, anyone you would like to acknowledge and thank! I will include a photo gallery of the Thank You Gift items, with numbers for each photo. Please make the minimum suggested donation or higher and indicate which number corresponds to the gift you would like to receive as thanks for your donation towards this exciting project! With Christmas rapidly approaching, this is a great way to support an independent artist, receive high quality one of a kind handmade items from Ireland AND be part of our vision to purchase our little farm!! You won’t be able to find these items on Amazon, and we need your support more than Geoff Bezos does!!
HERE is the link to the album/gallery of ThankYouGift items for all of our contributors to choose from!! please copy and paste it into your browser search bar in case the link isn't clickable. Thank you all so much!!
