Mizen to Malin Charity Cycle

Hello Everyone!

On August 22nd, 4 of us are cycling the length of Ireland, from bottom to top, Mizen to Malin in aid of charity Against Malaria with the help of two friends operating a support vehicle. The cycle will be will be more than 1000 kilometres spread over 8 days.

Against Malaria is a fantastic charity that gets incredible benefit from every 1 euro raised. Malaria kills 400,000 people every year but that number used be 3 times higher before the widespread provision of nets. All money goes to getting a net to those in need. It is an extremely effective way of saving lives and for that reason it is the top ranked charity by Raise for Effective Giving, GiveWell and The Life You Can Save.

Nets are a proven intervention - a more effective a way of saving lives than any other. There is still a long way to go and every death from malaria is preventable.

- 70% of the deaths are children under 5

- Malaria is the world's single largest killer of pregnant women

- 90% of the deaths are in sub-Saharan Africa

Yet malaria is totally preventable and treatable. Nobody need die. Prevention is better than treatment.
