Mizen2Malin 2020

Mizen2Malin 2020 Do you want to help combat the homeless crisis in Ireland?  Beginning our journey in Cork City, fourteen eager cyclists intend to peddle over 1,000km of the Wild Atlantic coast to raise money for those in need.  Our goal is to raise money to support two organisations that help those affected by the homeless crisis in Ireland: Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) & Sophia Housing. Any money raised will directly benefit recipients of both organisations by covering the costs of supplies such as food and clothing parcels, sleeping bags, mobile outreach costs and permanent staff wages. We will split any donations between each charity. Founded in 2013, ICHH now has the help of over 200 volunteers who assist seven days a week, every week of the year. The ICHH team is dedicated to providing a number of services including outreach support, food distribution, and case management & advocacy. For over two decades, Sophia Housing has supported those emerging from homelessness; they focus on people recovering from the trauma and stigma of homelessness by proactively reducing their social exclusion. Sophia Housing assists by providing a home and wrap-around holistic supports necessary to recover from homelessness. Over the past four years, the number of people supported by Sophia has increased by 100%.  We know that there are a number of worthy charities, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our deepest thanks in advance for your support and any contributions for ICHH and Sophia Housing.

I will ensure that the funds that have been raised so far will be evenly distributed (50/50) between both the Inner City Helping the Homeless (ICHH) and Sophia Housing. I have been in close contact with both organisations and they have been notified that the fundraiser is now coming to a close.

Both organisations have outlined how the proceeds raised will help them in their effort to combat homelessness in Ireland.

Sophia Housing
Will be able to continue supporting families by providing a range of services such as: accomodation, counselling, nurturing and parenting settings,  helping individuals reintegrate into society once they leave prison.

Inner City Helping the Homeless (ICHH)
The money that has been raised will ensure that the ICHH can continue dispersing frontline outreach units throughout Dublin City, providing a hotline service that aims at locating anyone sleeping rough and ensuring they have warm clothes, food, water and are in stable condition. Furthermore, Ireland is experiencing waves of homelessness now more than ever, the money that has been raised by the Mizen2Malin Family will enable the ICHH to invest in another outreach unit van, that can be used as a means of transporting essential goods to those who are sleeping rough.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has supported us throughout our journey.
