I am Kim Ryan’s mammy , just want to tell you all about my amazing son Ryan.
Ryan is 10 years old , Ryan has a diagnosis of severe Autism . He also has a severe intellectual disability and sensory processing disorder .
Ryan is non verbal and lost the few words he had at the age of 2 which is quite common for autistic children , I like to see Ryan as per verbal as I believe one day he will speak again.
Ryan is a very loving little boy, always smiling and he may not have any words but he definitely has a way of telling you what he wants.
Ryan is a very active boy always on the go, never sits a minute and loves to be outside. For Ryan’s safety someone has to be with him at all times as he is a “flight risk” and doesn’t understand any dangers so this can be quite challenging especially as he is getting bigger, stronger and faster the older he gets. Ryan has a special buggy currently for when we take him out and about for his own safety incase he takes off on us. But the dream would be for him to be able to just walk and know he’s safe with a service dog.
He also has very bad anxiety and loves and needs someone to be beside him all the time it’s a comfort to him even at nighttime.
A service dog would absolutely change his life in many ways for the better, as you can imagine the difference one would make to us all as a family in helping keep Ryan safe.
I have seen the amazing service that my canine companion offers to families of children with Autism and how it has changed so many lives of children with autism . They are a fantastic service and relies only on public donations.
Thank you all so much for helping in anyway you can. I really appreciate it and will be forever grateful.
