It’s been a weird year for everyone in Skerries, Ireland and around the world. Students have seen their lives and education totally upended and changed. They have been so brave and accepting of their new way of living and learning. As parents we are so proud of them.
We are equally proud of the teachers and management of Skerries Community College in helping the students adjust to their new school lives. The amount of time and effort that went into preparing the school for social distancing and then adjusting to a world of online teaching has been a massive undertaking.
With all the students due back to school by the 12th of April we asked the management how we could help make school life easier, safer and more enjoyable for students.
The answer was outdoor sports facilities. Due to COVID, indoor exercise has been limited and the need for the school to update their outdoor sports facilities became very apparent. To keep students motivated, engaged, happy and healthy, the school is keen to try and make their outdoor sports facilities the best they can be for them. First on the list is to secure and update the outdoor Basketball Courts.
There was no questioning the need for this or the impact we knew it would have on school life so we set about creating a SCC community wide event that would get students, parents and teachers outside, active and working together.
Please join us in supporting the school by donating what you can and supporting the school community as they walk or run 9665km with the Olympic Torch from Athens to Tokyo.
