This is uninspiring for the city, it's so dull and reminds us of how much we are losing right now culture-wise. How many movies we can't go see, how many gigs we can't go to, how many memories we aren't making from these shared cultural experiences.
The Positive Space
A city-wide exhibition
June 22nd - July 12th
As a result, Anthony Remedy, Corina Gaffey, and Naomi Gaffey initiated The Positive Space, a city-wide exhibition, that will turn those negative, blank spaces into something positive, and encouraging. We asked a selection of Irish photographers to come together and provide an image that inspires them, and in turn, that would galvanize the city. We plan to exhibit the photographs for up to three weeks throughout Dublin via IPA advertising sites in a mammoth city-wide exhibition. The opportunity to host this style of exhibition, due to lack of events, is unlikely to come around again.
The aim is to bring some joy to people's lives amongst all this, as well as promoting Irish creatives. Whether you are young or old, you will be able to view the posters dotted around the city, It would be really fantastic for town, lifting people's spirits, as well as allowing people to reconnect with the city and art in person, not just through a screen while everything is closed.
We will have a very substantial amount of sites around the city for the duration of the exhibition and have a stellar line of up of fine art, fashion, and documentary photographers onboard.
The photographers submitting images to the Positive Space include:
Philip Arneill, B +, Enda Bowe, Noel Bowler, Linda Brownlee, Conor Clinch, Brian Daly, Meghan Doherty, Dorje de Burgh, Ronan Gallagher, Neil Gavin, Ellius Grace, Rich Gilligan, Naomi Gaffey, Boo George, Andrew Hetherington, Fortune Lago, Gareth McConnell, Piers McGrail, Aisling McCoy, Yvette Monahan, Liam Murphy, Andrew Nuding, Niall O’Brien, Niamh Smith, Philip White
To bring this immense exhibition to the city, we need to raise €10,000 the funds collected will only be used to cover costs of postering and printing. IPA is assisting us to ensure maximum exposure for the public, with a 70% discount on the sites.
But we still need your support and if you would like to make a voluntary contribution, please do so above.
The Positive Space would be something fun, interactive, and engaging for the city. A totally unique opportunity to be able to display a vast city-wide exhibition at this scale and one that can be enjoyed by thousands of people.
If you enjoy cultural experiences, going to events, whether it’s a gig, a movie, a show, or an exhibition, do show your support for The Positive Space, and please spread the word!
